Washington Shipyard Settles Workplace Sexual Harassment Suit Involving Male Employee
It's important to keep in mind that employees of any gender may be victims of workplace sexual harassment. Thus, male employees may also be victims of sexual harassment in the workplace. In fact, in October of 2019, a naval shipyard in Washington state settled a sexual harassment case with a male employee over claims of sexual harassment and retaliation. Working with a sexual harassment lawyer, the employee was awarded $130,000 in his lawsuit alleging sexual harassment and retaliation.
According to the lawsuit filed by the employee, who worked at the shipyard for 33 years, he reported a case of sexual harassment to the shipyard’s Equal Employment Opportunity office, but it was not passed on to the commanding officer. Additionally, the sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit alleged that the shipyard harassed and retaliated against him for filing the sexual harassment complaints.
